How long does an energy audit take?
About 3-5 hours, depending on the size of the home and number of services performed. A HERS report, if required will be completed within 7 days of the initial audit. It is suggested that the certified inspector review the results of the report with the customer to answer questions.
Do I need to be present during the audit?
It is suggested that the homeowner be present during the blower door test, in order to see and view problem areas. If it is not possible to be present, the certified inspector will place removable tape in areas that need attention.
What should I do to prepare for the audit?
Providing a blueprint, or measured drawing of the home will greatly improve accuracy. Be sure to close any fireplace flues and windows. If a duct pressure check is being performed, access to all registers will be required.
